If you want a Windows 7 look, people have already (obviously) coded decent 'superbar' and Windows start menu applets for the Gnome panel (As for snap, shake etc, Compiz has had similar options, and much many others for quite a while). ![]() I think a Windows 7-esque theme would be better than a full on imitation.īut the thing is Linux offers so much more than Windows and (especially) OS X in that aspect.įor instance, if you want to imitate Macs, you can have the program menus moved from the program window to the top panel and get a very accurate look (I use this because I find it handy for example, not because I want the Mac look on my computer). It looks fairly good, but in general transformation packs and themes that mimic a different OS are never recommended - since they all look like tacky homemade versions.
